"Tweeking" sounds like gaming.
If your angels are looking for some specific [possibly vanity] metric I'd suggest asking them directly what they need to close the deal.
Good luck.

If your "angel" investor is putting up walls with his/her "people" / "representatives" then there is already a communication breakdown.
Have you communicated your observations, needs, and your specific request directly to the angel investor?
Silence can mean many things and don't make assumptions.
Good luck.

Yes.
I am getting "clients" here.
And.
Most of my clients come from other places (mostly referrals) and I am working on testing this as a platform to use for extending my remote mentoring offerings.
Strategies?
Engaging. Answering questions (like this one).
"Giving away" great content here -- and other places (like www.implementingscrum.com) for me has worked.
And.
Asking for people to contact you here for a discussion... like this:
"If you'd like to have a conversation more about how to increase your marketing strategies on Clarity, please contact me."
No hard selling. A real call-to-action.

Easy answer (that is very hard in reality) is to find what people call "Customer Number One."
Will someone actually pay you for whatever it is you DO?
There are more good comments here...

Hi.
In reality, there may not be much of a difference. in reality a non-profit or for-profit enterprise will need to generate revenue and will have expenses.
Some social enterprises (like the "B corps") then say they will give back all the "profits" as a social enterprise.
All good stuff.
In the real world it's about the structure of the business (from the IRS standpoint if you are in the USA). Fun fact, the NFL is considered a non-profit organization in the USA.
Take a look at a Ted Talk (any really) and you will see people passionate about tons of different social causes. One that is always inspiring for me is Simon Sinek (start with Why) about being able to frame the real reason for doing what you are doing....
Good luck.

Hi,
Talk to people in that industry about the pain you are trying to solve. Having a solution without a specific problem will piss away a lot of your time, money, and other resources.
There are many ways to build a landing page (keep it simple) that really just starts seeing if people are interested.
Check out the concept of "Lean Startup" (good beginner book from Eric).
Web or not... system or no system... if you are not creating value and solving a specific problem it's not going to be needed.

Good answers so far.
My two cents: Content. Content. Content.

Hi.
Here is a great consultant answer: "It Depends."
Really that may be a frustrating answer and I've found that the answer really is in what it is that you ultimately *want* to sell -- and "how."
The successful paid membership sites I've done (and watch) all have a great reach in people reading some kind of "free" content along with a pretty big "list" of people.
If you have a large number people already following your work someplace, this may help the overall fight for becoming -- and remaining -- relevant in this very noisy world of ours.
For me, I give almost all of my material away for free (kind of like my public answers here). I also give a ton of free information on various sites in my little world (for example, www.implementingscrum.com) and then allow for people to find out more for my paid services (leads to www.michaelvizdos.com).
What's your end goal for your business?
If you'd like to chat about it more, let me know if you'd like to schedule some time together.

My recommendation would be to speak with a qualified attorney and accountant on this.
For profit or "non-profit" in the end is really just a tax category (think of the NFL in the USA -- it's a "non-profit" entity -- I just read the NFL commissioner makes $29 million a year).
Either type of entities will need to drive revenue and will have expenses.
Always curious of the people saying they "need" to do this.

Hi.
Steve has some great recommendations and I will reiterate the need for creating a real network... not just online but real face-to-face relationship building over time.
It's almost like dating (from what I can remember lol)... it takes time and building trust is important.
Jumping into bed with someone on the first date... I'd recommend viewing that analogy the same as if someone I just met wanted to throw money at me.
Short term it may be fun but you *will* pay in the long run (smile) on many different levels.
Eesh... did I just say what others [with experience] were thinking anyway?
